Day 230

SHE CAN DO IT!!!

Adeline can now make her Gumball machine work all by herself. She pushes the button which makes the ball come down and plays some music and then she picks up the ball and puts it back in the top...This makes me very happy! I no longer have to sit there to keep putting the balls in while Adeline makes the noise.

Day 219

My Little Red Wagon

For her birthday Mommy and Daddy gave Adeline a wagon...and because it has seat belts we are able to use it already! And she is lovin it!!!! Well, as long as I keep her moving. We circled the house a few times this afternoon and Adeline never tired of me pulling her around and around along the same path. We stopped to visit the puppy a few times, even taking her for a little ride too (until she had enough and jumped ship). I think the wagon is going to be a well used present for many years to come!

Day 197

Xylophone

Adeline Loves music!! All kinds. She will often imitate me drumming on the table - if I use one hand then she does too, if I use two hands at the same so does she and if I use alternate my two hands that is what she will do too. So back to the xylophone...when Adeline was much younger I would pull it out and bang on it a few times, Adeline would then take the mallet and....of course, put it in her mouth. Now she not only puts it in her mouth, but she also uses it to bang out a little tune.

Day 190

Bath Snack

So today was the first day you did not have even one bottle. It's nice, and not so nice all at the same time. You used to have 3 bottles and 3 meals a day, but now you are all over the 6-7 meals a day. I now realize that it was easier to feed you a bottle of formula than to make and feed you a meal. So now because you are not taking a bottle before bed anymore we decided to give you a bath snack - that's a snack when you are in the bath. You LOVED it!!! You ate all that I had made and drank some milk too. Then you got changed for bed, Daddy read you some books and you fell asleep within 5 minutes of your head hitting your pillow. It was great!! You are becoming such a big girl!

Day 186

Mommy and Me

Adeline, here is a picture of you and I from today. The most exciting part of today was watching you crawl around more than just a few 'steps.' It was so nice to be able to get some work done in the kitchen and have you get to where you wanted to be without needing to be the one to move you. You are becoming quite proficient at crawling (only when you want to do it ;) and also at getting yourself up on to you knees without using your hands.

Oh ya and you started signing puppy today...but rather than patting your leg, you pat your chest or belly or even my leg. It is just tooooo cute.

Here is proof that you have finally started crawling...not that you have done it for anyone other than Mommy yet.

I just love how your tongue sticks out when you are working hard! Daddy and I are soooo proud of you, you have been working so hard to crawl and now that hard work is paying off.

Day 179

Using a Spoon

Today Daddy was teaching you to use a spoon just like a big girl!! And you were doing pretty good too! He was giving you pieces of banana and some cheerios on your spoon and you would use it to shovel the pieces into your hungry mouth.

Day 176

From a Cup

Today I was teaching you how to use a real cup and you absolutely loved it!!!!! You MUCH prefer the straight up cup to the sippy cup. We did end up with a bit of liquid on the floor and one time you were quite sad because you spilled some into your lap, but all and all the cup was a success.

Day 156

Snakes

Adeline, today we went to a trade fair. I had you facing me in the carrier and you spent the whole time talking...to EVERYTHING. You were just so happy to be out and about and surrounded by people. You were very intrigued by the reptile booth and especially by the snakes. When we first walked up the the booth the man working the booth had a snake around his neck and you were so enticed by it that you reached right out and grabbed it...but then you were a little taken aback by how it felt that you pretty much kept your hands to yourself the rest of the time were checking out the reptiles. That did not stop you from giving them intense stares though ;)

I feed myself, mom!

So now do you not only want to feed yourself you bottle, but you also want to be in total control of your food too. When I used to give you these pouches of food to try and feed them to yourself you would just squeeze them so hard that the food would squirt out and get all over the place, but today when we tried again you were in complete control. You would take the pouch in your hand, then put your finger in the hole where the food comes out (I think to make sure there was still food in there), then finally you would put the hole to you lips and suck out all the food you could get in one long draw. You were quite pleased with yourself after learning how to eat like a big girl...you ate the whole pouch all by yourself. - P.S. make sure you take note of you hair in the picture...we are trying out a new style!

Day 150

See, I brush my own teeth mama!

That is what you said to me with you smile this morning! You did brush your teeth and did a pretty good job, and you also brushed the floor, and the toilet too...but none the less, you do brush your own teeth each and every morning and every night before bed.

*you may notice that I have changed how I write this blog...This blog started as something that I was going to do for Adeline. A reason to take more pictures and to document a year of her wonderful life. I am going to start (any maybe even go back and fix past entries as well) writing this blog as a dialogue to Adeline. Something for her to read as a letter from her mom in the very distant future; a way that for her to learn about what she was like as a baby. Please continue to read these letters as a way to stay informed about what is happening with us.

Day 148

I Can Do It!

After I fed Adeline a bottle today, she was playing in the living room with her baby. I showed her that she could feed her baby with the bottle, just like I feed her...she would have none of that, she did not want to share with the baby. So she started to feed herself. Adeline could get the bottle into her mouth, but did not understand that she needed to tip her head waaaay back to actually get some milk. I laid her back and she went at feeding herself and presto...she finished the rest of the bottle...after telling me she was all done (apparently it is quite fun to feed yourself ;) This was really cute to watch, because Adeline is usually soooo off hands when drinking her milk (well other than touching your face and holding your hand...which I love!). I so love this girl!

Day 142

Like a Big Girl

After an on the go, car diaper change I let Adeline sit in the van like a big girl...I even buckled her in and everything. I think she was enjoying it...made it hard to get her sitting in her car seat when we needed to get driving again.

Day 124

Adeline and Mommy

This will be the last picture of Adeline and me when I am wearing glasses...I am going under the laser tomorrow and could not be more happy about the decision and excited to not have to wear or have glassess pulled off my face again.

Daddy is going to take over the blog for at least tomorrow, as I am not allowed to use a computer for at least 24 hours after my surgery. But he is funnier and a way better writer than I so this may be a welcome change for my many, many (all 3 of you) faithful readers ;)

Adeline Brushes Her Own Hair

Every time I change Adeline's diaper I give her the baby brush and immediately upon receiving it she shoves it into her mouth and proceded to brush the inside of her mouth with it. Well today rather than thrusting is directly into her mouth Adeline first turned her head and rubbed it on her head. When I first saw this I was more than a little confused; so I took the brush back, brushed her hair a bit and then gave her the brush again. Again this time she took the brush in her hand and rubbed it on her hair (or almost). I soon realized that she was also trying to brush her own hair just a little bit before again shoving the brush into her wide open mouth. I am going to have this girl changing her own diaper, feeding herself and driving a car in now time now, I can see it already ;)

Day 108

Shopping with Mommy

Adeline was a great helper during grocery shopping this afternoon. She was happy for most of the trip and chose all the best produce. She even sat in the cart like a big girl...and even held on while we were driving around (something she doesn't usually do).

Day 87

Big Girl

After taking this picture today, I realized that Adeline is growing up and she is becoming a big girl before our very eyes. I could not believe my eyes when I looked at this picture and no longer saw a little baby anymore, but something that looked more like a toddler. Not that she is in the toddling stage by any means yet, but today, for some reason, she just looked a little but more mature to me. Today she even sat up in the bath like a big girl for the very first time...she liked it, but what she loved is when I laid her down in the big tub (not the little baby tub that she has been waaaay too big for for weeks, but we have kept put in her to save on water) where she could kick and kick and kick until she didn't want to kick no more! Her little motor legs were just a goin. I'm sure it was nice for her to be able to move freely without being impeded by the edges of that teeny tiny little tub.

Heat

I showed Adeline the heating vent in her room today. She was quite pleased with it. we got a whole extra tummy time in today just sitting there feeling the warm air push through the vent. She would feel it with her hands and then move her face real close and feel it with her face and then her hands and then her face...it was nice because mama also got a break from Cranky Adeline during this time as well ;)

Day 64

Big Girl

Today Adeline used her "Big Girl" car seat for the first time. I'm not gonna say she loved it...but what I will say is that she didn't mind it. She sat in it and amused herself by looking in her mirror and playing with her toy, but when she had had enough she was d.o.n.e done and ready to get the heck outta there. But really that is no different than any other day in her other car seat, so I'm gonna have to say our first time in the new car seat was a great success. Although when using this new car seat I will miss being able to quickly put a grumpy and very tired baby to sleep easily...so I might just keep the "little girl" one around for a while...I'm not sure I am ready to give up its convenience ;)

Adeline is almost able to sit independently. I think if we keep practicing she will have it in a week...don't hold me to that, because today we forgot to practice until 6:30pm and I don't always get the best work from her at that time of night ;)
