Baby's Best Friend

Adeline and Chloe love each other. Adeline has learned that if she sees Chloe, leans forward and sticks out her tongue that Chloe will lick the inside of her mouth and face and chest (if there is some spit up on her clothes). This is win-win for the both of them! I have come to realize that the only readon Adeline can sit up is because she wants to see and touch Chloe. So if she is sitting on the floor then Chloe will immediately come and see her. Chloe has learned that when Adeline burps she should come running, because there are bound to be some delicious juices dripping from Adeline's face on to the floor.

Day 29

Look Mom, Two Teeth!

On Monday one tiny little tooth finally broke through and then just two days later the second. It only took me a week to get a picture of the evidence...here they are the tiny little teeth, it's kind of like Where's Waldo...can you find Adeline's real teeth?

Day 28

Mommy's Group Get Together

Today Adeline and I joined most of the mommies (Sheeba and baby Kiran were missed) from our Mommy group at Nez's house. We enjoyed a traditional Lebanese meal (which was d.e.licious!!!!), some great conversation and lots of baby play time. It was great to all get together again as Adeline and I have not seen some of those mommies and babies since well before Christmas. It is so much fun to see how the babies are growing and changing and how because of that how their interactions change as well.

Day 27

Adeline Likes to Do Laundry

Adeline was being real helpful today...she was sorting the socks while Mommy folded the laundry. She was also practicing her sitting up skills in a place where her face is protected! By the way Adeline is getting VERY good a sitting up. She had a friend over today and she sat and played with him for quite some time.

Another good thing about the laundry basket...it is going to become another of Mommy's trusted babysitters!

For Christmas, from Uncle Timmy, Adeline got some new shoes...they were the cutest vans that I ever did see! But Adeline has fat feet (not long, just fat), so the ones he got her were way too small...I couldn't even get them on her feet. So I exchanged them for the size bigger. Well I brought those home and tried them on her feet and much to my dismay I could barely get them on her feet, but when I finally did she had a whole inch until her toes would touch the end. So I exchanged them for the velcro variety...the ones where she can have fat feet and I don't have to squish her feet into them! Day 25

Meeting New Friends

Back when I was in high school I had a good friend named Heather. Heather and I played many sports together...well Heather had a daughter just three months after Adeline was born. Her name is Mackenzie. Mackenzie and Adeline met and became instant friends today. Good times were had by all!

Yum, Yum

Adeline and Mommy went out today and decided to pay Daddy a little visit...it just so happened that he was going to have his lunch break at that time so we got to have lunch with him!!!! YAY! And since Mom and Dad were both having lunch Adeline decided she needed to have some lunch too.

Day 23

Bright Eyed and Bushy Tailed

Adeline's good days are usually determined by how she naps...well, today was a good day! I put her down in her bed and although it took her some time to get there, she fell asleep and remained that way for 1 hour and 40 minutes - which is a far cry from her usual 20-40 minute naps. When she gets enough sleep, Adeline is very nice to be around! She is happy and content. She plays well with others as well as by her self. Let's hope there are more to come!!!

Today was one of the happiest days I think Adeline has ever had I'm sure it doesn't hurt that the tooth she has been cutting for what feels like months has finally broken through. This is both exciting and depressing to us, as we know there are many more teeth to come and with them come those super fussy, no-sleep days.

Silly Bunny

Bunny was the first gift Adeline ever received...it was from her Uncle Timmy and Auntie Taylor. On the first day we could have visitors in the hospital Timmy and Taylor came to give baby A some lovin' and brought with them Bunny. Well, last night I pulled Bunny off the shelf in her room where she was being adored each and every day and decided to put her to work. She promptly went through the wash and then became Adeline's new best friend. All day today Adeline would talk to Bunny, sing to bunny, chew bunny's ears and look into bunny's face with love...I think it's because it reminds her of her Uncle and Auntie ;)

Oh ya, and she is also wearing some new duds, courtesy of Gramma and our shopping trip yesterday...and Mommy did the dressing this time, therefore no wardrobe mishaps.

Day 20

Who wants to party like it's 1999? - I DO says Adeline!

Well it was kind of like a party; we went shopping with Gramma today and that is about all the party Adeline can take (as long as she is also getting naps every 2 hours and food every 3).

Day 19

Up Close and Personal

I am far too tired to write anything witty today. I was up every 2 hours last night...but because of a crying baby, but because of the whine of a trucks removing snow from the parking lot in front of our home from 9pm until 3am last night (and early this morning). The city of Edmonton has no jurisdiction because it's not city property and the police cannot do anything because the city issues permits for the snow to be removed at that awful time of the day.

Feet Feet Feet!

Adeline is lovin' her feet lately (and when I say lately I mean the last two days). She will grab them any chance she gets...and that's pretty much whenever she remembers that they are there for the playing.

Day 16

Teething Trials

I love my little Adeline to death, but sometimes I just wish she was a little less sensitive. Right now she is teething and everyone knows it. When I say everyone, I mean everyone! The lady down the street just "popped over" today to welcome us to the neighbourhood. We have been living here over a fracken year already! What I think really happened is she was wondering by and heard our screeching child and wanted to know what kind of pain we were inflicting on her. Well at least she stopped by rather than calling child services on us 8). So back to the teething...to help, Adeline sucks on the sleeve of her shirt ALLLLLLL day...it's kind of gross, but also kind of cute (see cute picture above).

Oh ya something else...She sat!!! Long enough for me to realize that she was going to be sitting for a while, grab my phone, open the camera and actually take the photo...so it was a little while. She still topples over at the drop of a hat and proceded to face plant right onto the bed, the carpet, the kitchen floor, the couch or whatever else she happens to be sitting on. I am hoping she quickly learns to use her hands to help her out, or we are going to have a sad baby on our hands every night and you may even be seeing some pics of our cutie with a rug burned face.

Day 15

We have a budding artist on our hands...although she was more interested in eating the drawing implement than actually making any art. She even christened my diningroom table with permanent felt marker...I knew it would happen sooner or later.

This one is a picture of the gouge on Adeline's face from where her daddy let her face plant the floor yesterday. She was doing her daily sitting practice on the floor this time with daddy and she was doing real well until she toppled forward onto her sister's bone...How many times a day do I need to tell Chloe to pick up her toys until she remembers to do it herself? I just hope the memory of what happend does not come back to her every time she sits on the floor...until she sits I am going to blame it on this, more importantly, I am going to blame the Husband for it!

...and I know you cannon see it very well, but I asure you, it's a bad one!

Day 14

Playing in the Jumparoo

Adeline is lovin' the Jumparoo lately...now that she has figured out how to use it! She can finally reach some of the toys and even jump up and down to amuse herself. Now I am able to sit on the couch, eat potato chips and watch Grey's Anatomy in peace while my free babysitter (the Jumparoo) does his job ;). And when my little Petunia starts getting fussy all I have to do is turn on the noise and it is a different toy altogether.

On another note...we tried green beans today. Here is the proof:

Day 13

Adeline's First Diet Coke

Often when Adeline is fussy during dinner the Husband or I have her sit on out knee...she is quite entertained by watching mom and dad eat. She always wants to participate in our meal in some way and because she is only on beginning baby foods thus far she is not actually able to eat our food, therefore we share our drink with her (which is usually H2O). Well this evening I had a coke with a straw and she wanted to try it out...but was not yet capable of doing anything other than having the straw in her mouth. So for all you who at this point think I am a bad momma for letting my 5 month old drink diet coke...do not fret, I didn't.

Tummy Time

Adeline HATES tummy time. The mear face that I was able to snap this photo was a miracle, because usually by the time I put her down on her tummy and grab my camera she is either bawling or has gotten so fed up with being on her tummy that she has flipped to her back. I always tell people that the only reason she has rolled from tummy to back is because she hates being on her tummy so much that all she wants to do is get off it. With all that being said, she has started to like it more and more these past few weeks (we have been working hard! so hard so I am breaking a sweat). But she still refuses to roll from her back to her belly.

Mommy's Sweater

My mother and grandmother made me a variety of sweaters when I was just a wee little bebe. Today I put one of them on Adeline and did a mini photo shoot. So here she is in one of them (although over the years and again this morning it has lots some buttons it has held up rather well for being 30 years old). I think she liked it!

Day 8

Adeline & Mommy

Today was a snow day! It was relatively mild out, but it did not stop snowing for a day and a half and when you already have a foot+ snow on the ground that much more makes it a LOT! To make matters worse, Adeline was in a pretty grumpy mood all day (thus the grumpy looking baby and mommy in the picture today). Hopefully we are back to normal tomorrow.

Jack & Adeline

Jack is Adeline's best friend. I'm not just saying that just because Jack's mom and I have become good friends...they really and truly like each other. When they are together they like to smile and talk to each other. Sometimes they eat together. When we are at home and we talk about Jack, Adeline's legs go crazy...she loves to go to the mall with Jack or see a movie with him; they just like to do things together...it doesn't hurt that I like to do things with Jack's mom too ;)

Today we went to the mall for a hangout with Jack and his mom (Bethany). It had been a while since we had seen them because they were in Europe, but Jack surely remembered Adeline and could not keep his hands off her! And after a while Adeline was acting as if Jack had never been gone. We really like hanging out with them and missed them greatly when they were gone. Needless to say we are happy they are home!

Day 5

Bath Time

Adeline Loves bath time with Daddy. Even on the fussiest of nights she laughs and smiles as soon as she gets in the bathroom.

Adeline is almost able to sit independently. I think if we keep practicing she will have it in a week...don't hold me to that, because today we forgot to practice until 6:30pm and I don't always get the best work from her at that time of night ;)
